The Mind Lab by Olivia

The Mind Lab
On the 28th of July Room19 and Room22 went to the NZ Mind Lab to learn about electrical circuits.
First Room 19 and Room 22 clampered onto the long school bus and sat down on the seats.
During the bus ride Amelia and I spotted some harakeke in our community.

When we arrived at the Mind Lab we walked through an entry which said "secret entry".
Inside there was a mat which we had to sit on so we could listen to see what we were doing and how to do it. If a boy needed to go toilet they would have to ballet dance to the toilet and if a girl wanted to go toilet they would have to moonwalk.

Then a man called D and a Lady called coco then split us up into our different classes.
Coco took us into a room with lots of computers and told us to sit down on the ground.

She then showed us what to do and how to do it. We had to figure out how we could connect the alligator clips to make all the light bulbs on the computer light up.

Next we had morning tea and some boys ballerina danced to the toilet and some girls moowalked to the toilet.
At the end of morning tea Coco came to pick us up and then we walked to the room with all the computers and listened to Coco tell us our next challenge. We had to try and make a drum kit using a dinosaur on the computer and some materials like tinfoil, play doh and paper with a picture on it.
I had to do it with a 4 person group and my group was Me, Sharika, Zoe and Kayla.
We used play doh, tin foil and a piece of paper which we drawed a square on and it worked!!

Then we went around and we discovered if we could figure out how to do other people's drum kits.
At the end of the session we packed up, walked back, picked up our bags and waited in line.
On the way back to school I had a recap of everything I learnt on the trip.
My favourite part was when we made the Drum Kits.
