Confucius Classroom Opening Ceremony

Today we had the Confucius Classroom Opening Ceremony.  Meadowbank School is now one of eight schools to gain Confucius Classroom status which means that we will receive some annual funding from Han Ban via the Confucius Institute at Auckland University.

Mandarin has been part of the school programme since 2010. Over 500 students from Year 2 to 6 receive Mandarin lessons at least twice a week. The ceremony had special guests from the Chinese Consulate, Auckland University and other visiting schools. There were official speeches and performances in Mandarin from Meadowbank students.

Room 19 were also part of the special ceremony and performed two songs taught by Miss Ko (Mandarin Teacher) and her assistant Lisa who is here from China.

Thanks to Miss Ko, Lisa and Mr Ayson for a awesome opening ceremony!
